The country of Ecuador is turning into a leftist country and is following suit along with Bolivia and Venezuela. In fact, Ecuador has nationalized large corporations in certain industries such as energy and mining. Once a nation starts doing this it becomes a slippery slope, and you can expect them to do more. Worse, when a nation starts to nationalize such industries, most foreign companies will no longer invest money in those countries.
Right now what Ecuador needs to do is build more geothermal heat energy plants. Of course, that takes expertise, and a huge investment, something that Ecuador can't afford right now, and something that international banks may not be willing to do. The geothermal energy potential for Ecuador with their many volcanoes, and seismic activity could prove to be one of the best in the world.
It is amazing how the people of Ecuador have complained about global warming, and yet, the country now operates fossil fuel energy plants. If Ecuador truly wishes to stop CO2 global warming climate change in the world, then it needs to look in its own mirror and consider what it can do to reduce its own carbon footprint, rather than making negative comments about the United States of America, or other large countries.
It's very easy for a socialist nation to complain about a capitalist nation, and to pollute the minds of their masses with that state owned television, but that doesn't make it so. In fact, Ecuador due to their leftist stance, and recent joining of ALBA has put themselves into a Catch-22. They want the money from the first world nations that are capitalist, but they wish to throw away the democratic process and become socialist rulers of their nation.
Although Ecuador has slated future geothermal plants something they should have done decades the prior, I am not sure how they are going to afford to do geothermal heat energy production in the future. Nevertheless, they have all that potential they are wasting, and it just does not make any sense. Please consider all this.
