Solar Energy? - Gosh, I Don't Know If I Can Do That Myself Or Not

What's all the buzz?

I'm sure you've seen a lot of talk about solar energy and green energy on TV, in magazines and newspapers, and heard it on the radio.

Why? Well, in part it's because the government gives tax credits to those who have solar powered houses?

Government Tax Breaks - Just for making your home more energy efficient, the government is handing out tax credits of $250 to $3400 depending on how efficient your home is.And it saves you money.
Conserving energy helps to reduce the amount of fossil fuel that we use daily, and that helps to protect the planet.
Solar energy puts off NO emissions.
Converting your home to a solar-ran house saves, allowing you to do what you want with your money...in many cases 80%...rather than giving it to utility companies!

The Birth of Technology

Technology Here's something that I learned decades ago, and I see evidence of it frequently. Technology starts with government, or heavily government backed, projects and gradually shifts into the public awareness, then the creative entrepreneurial mind gets involved and launches the technology into those able to afford the advantages of this technology. Once competition takes hold, mass production techniques are created, then the technology becomes more affordable to the "common" man.

NASA started working with solar panels back in the 1960's to power space vehicles and much larger projects such as the space station with this technology starting its migration into public arena in the 1970's, and as early as 1976, the solar industry was hopeful that solar power would eventually provide a significant portion of the country's electricity by the end of the century.

Although at the time many viewed this comment as whimsical every indication is that the capability does exist, and it is a viable source of indefinite energy.

But why would I want to do this myself?

With professional installation typically costing $15-$20,000 this has made the project impossible for the majority of families, but once this initial burden is handled the payback, over time, can be huge! You have lower to minimal electric bills each month but the power companies are required to buy your excess power from you if you wish. Now not are you only saving money each month but you have created another tool for generating additional monthly income for you and you family.

And this is where today's DIY kits come into play. Making solar panels yourself, and installing them, is very doable. Well laid out plans, well written and easy to read manuals, instructions, videos, diagrams, even with listings of suppliers, make for projects you too can accomplish.

Now depending on your abilities creating solar panels yourself may be a challenge, but many homeowners, and many with no experience, have done so and have learned that the benefits are real.

Don't allow "Fear" to stop you before you even get started

At the moment you may be lacking confidence that you can achieve these results, but what's most important is your determination. First you will need the vision of what the results should be, then that coupled with well written materials and videos, will make this another one of those projects similar to ones you've started in the past, slightly fearful that you'll screw it up somewhere along the way. And how many of those projects came out just fine in the end? And were any of them as potentially beneficial to both your household savings while allowing you to do your part helping to clean up our planet?

As you can see in the following link to the Utah Daily Herald recent advances in battery storage and the films used in place of current solar panels will make the whole industry much more attractive and affordable for those wanting to cross over to producing their own power and keeping a lot more of their hard earned money in there own pocket! Battery could change world.

I am looking forward to seeing how Solar energy "takes off" and being a part of it all.
